Zero Balancing was developed in the early 1970’s, by Fritz Smith. An osteopathic physician. Dr. Smith was fascinated by the healing power of touch. During the late 1960s, Dr. Smith studied at Esalen Institute with many of the forerunners of the body-mind therapy movement. It was there he met J.R. Worsley the founder of the College of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture in England, whose demonstrations challenged Dr. Smith’s beliefs in the purely Western medical model. During this period he also began to explore yoga, meditation, spiritual teachings in India, Eastern energy medicine, and quantum physics.
Zero Balancing is a body-mind therapy that uses skilled touch to address the relationships between the structure and energy within the body.
Zero Balancing has helped clients with immediate and long-lasting relief of physical and emotional trauma, which may be stored in the body as patterns of chronic tension and imbalance.
In a Zero Balancing treatment you will lie fully clothed on your back for 35 - 45 minutes. I use slow and gentle points of pressure held for a few seconds each to create fulcrums or balance points. In accessing deep and dense tissues of the body, combined with soft tissue and energy fields, Zero balancing helps to clear blocks in the body enabling the body to relax and repair.
